The Maine Memory Network (Maine Historical Society)
A statewide collaborative database of electronic versions of Maine's historical Documents, contributed by cultural institutions from around the state, from their own locations. Documents include electronic representations of letters, journals, photographs, paintings, drawings, museum objects, broadsides, maps, sound and video files. Each somehow relates to Maine or New England. Offers a section for teachers, with lesson plans and Maine State Learning Results tie-ins. So far, there are stories about the 20th Maine, Cape Elizabeth Shipwrecks, Fort Halifax, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Irish Immigrants in Nineteenth Century Maine, John Dunn, Meshach P. Larry, Rebecca Usher, Sewing Samplers, Suffrage in Maine, the Kotzschmar Memorial Organ, and Trolleys.
