These listings and annotations are taken directly from
the pamphlet "Through Maine on Printed Paths: A List of Maine Books for
Teachers and Pupils," compiled by the Division of Instruction, State Department of Education,
Augusta, ME, 1956. Mrs. Margaret Pattershall, state elementary supervisor,
and Mrs. Mary Davis assembled the material, which does not
appear to be copyrighted.
Keep in mind that most of these resources will be out of print but many are available
through second-hand book stores, historical societies, and libraries, especially the Maine
State Library.
