Volunteering
Library Opportunities
Book Repair - Learn how to make simple repairs to books. Fix torn pages, broken spines, replace ripped book covers and more. Commitment on an "as needed" basis, usually a couple of hours a week at most.

Publicity - Help advertise the library, our programs and any other events we may hold. Would be willing to write a bi-monthly newsletter for the library. Works with the program coordinator who will be planning events for the library. This is an on-going volunteer position with a significant but flexible time commitment. There can be more than one volunteer sharing this position.

Program Coordinator - This is a wonderful volunteer position for a person who likes to get out and talk to people. The right person will develop programs to be sponsored by the library and find people to lead those programs, based on their interests. Programs can include slide shows, author talks, scrapbooking or card making classes, photography classes, genealogy workshops, etc.

Photographer - Do you enjoy taking pictures? Work with the publicity person and program coordinator taking pictures at special events and programs the library and Friends Group hold. An as needed position.

Story Hour Helpers - Enjoy working with children? Help with our story hours or Summer Reading Program. Read stories, help kids with crafts or entertain them with songs, puppets, or other activities. Commit to one session or the whole program.

Library Trustee - From time to time a position opens up on the Library's Board of Trustees. These are three year terms. Board meetings are held once a month, generally. You may be asked to join a subcommittee researching a specific issue or performing a specific task, which is an additional time commitment.

Gardener - Help maintain the library flower beds. Weed when needed, put the garden to bed for the winter and clean it up in the spring. Ask for plant donations when needed. Very flexible! Work at your own pace.

Friends Opportunities
Book Sorting - This position needs a person who loves going through boxes of books, audio and visual materials that have been donated to the library. Materials need to be sorted into categories for the library's book sale, and non-usable materials discarded. If done once a month for 2-3 hours, items won't pile up too much.

Book Sale Day-of-Sale Helpers - Positions include moving books before and after; making bake sale items; handling sales; restocking tables. etc. You would assist each area head as assigned. Currently, there are two sales a year.
