International Crime Fiction: Resources

Websites with info and thoughts about international/European crime fiction:
  • George J Demko's Landscapes of Crime, with musings, maps and articles related to the intersection of geography and mystery fiction. Article titles include "Strangers on Terrain," "Crime in Cold Places: A Geography Review," "Diffusion and Adaptation of Crime Fiction." In the section International Columns, he writes about various countries' crime fiction, with author and title examples.
  • Detectives Beyond Borders: A Forum for International Crime Fiction, a weblog maintained by a copy editor who lives in Philadelphia. Some book reviews, but mostly seems to be thoughts about crime fiction as it is written and set in various countries. One entry poses this question: "Who are the European (or Asian, African, South American or Australian) counterparts of the American 'regular guy' (or regular girl) detectives?"
  • Euro Crime Blog, Karen Meek's "snippets about British and other European crime fiction." Mostly short book reviews, as well as other comments, announcements and links.
  • International Noir Fiction: Mostly reviews. Postings about once a week.
  • A Library Journal article titled "Dark is the New Cozy" (April 2006) about European crime novels popular with Americans.
  • Our booklists of travel and place in mystery
